Student societies

Society of Technical Students

The NGO Society of Technical Students was founded on January 28, 2009. The society offers its members interesting challenges and gaining internship experience alongside studies through various engineering and technical projects.

The society consists mostly of students from the Institute and College of Technology, but students from other disciplines also find activities. We are also open to students’ ideas for carrying out various projects and we will find the best possible solution for its implementation. The Society of Technical Students wants to be a mainstay for young engineers who would be highly valued in their field in the future for their knowledge, experience and skills.

The Society of Technical Students carries out various interesting projects, starting with the construction of both a competition robot and a compressed air formula, ending with the development of a racing simulator. Such projects enable the members of the Society to acquire the aforementioned qualities. Thanks to our active members, we have also achieved success and recognition in international competitions, such as the compressed air components manufacturer Aventics, a compressed air vehicle competition.

Our members have also been awarded the “Technical Student of the Year” award from the Estonian Association of Engineers twice (2014 and 2016). We also communicate with many companies and professional associations to strengthen cooperation and successfully carry out projects.

The Society of Technical Students actively participates in the Pneumobile competition, “mannergute” metering and various trade fairs on the topic of industry and education. The members of our society are also engaged in motorsport, which is why you can see both various rally and hobby cars in the garage of the EEC Technical Institute. Active members of the Society of Technical Students have access to the tools available at the Technical Institute.
The society’s room is located on the ground floor of the Technical House – A008.

Estonian Society of Veterinary Medicine Students

EVÜS has been a non-profit association uniting vet students operating in Tartu since the spring of 2013. The purpose of the Society’s activities is to introduce and develop the teaching and research activities of students in the field of veterinary medicine and to establish links with other professional natural and legal persons.

By offering vet students a variety of opportunities for diverse development, self-realization and spirited student years, we hope to contribute to the improvement of their skills. With the activities of our society, we wish to complement academic learning with various exciting outputs, to promote animal health care, keeping culture and welfare, and also to stand up for good public health. In addition, we want to raise awareness among people about the role of veterinary medicine in society. We also want to develop cross-disciplinary cooperation both in Estonia and abroad.

All veterinary medicine students who wish to apply themselves and get to know interesting people are welcome to join us. In order to receive an application for joining, you must contact a member of the management board.

Our activities are carried out by three different panels: the marketing and communication committee, the human resources committee and the sponsorship relations committee. You can read more about the activities of the panels here (In Estonian).

The society’s office is located on the campus of the Estonian University of Life Sciences in the Zoomeedikum study building (Kreutzwaldi 62) on the ground floor of the A corps in room 104B. In the room there are the necessary tools for preparing hot food and drink (microwave, kettle, coffee maker). To furnish your free time, you can browse professional literature or play TV games for entertainment.

Estonian Landscape Architecture Students' Association

Estonian Landscape Architecture Students’ Association (EMÜS) is a non-profit association founded in 1999. The society unites Estonian landscape architecture students who have the opportunity to have a say in the promotion of their speciality and offer opportunities to practice what they have learned outside the university.

We involve students in university life by organizing professional lectures – workshops, relieving tension with various style parties and helping to settle into the university and specialty in the first year. In April, we celebrate World Landscape Architecture Month, where we organize a series of events and lectures every year. We operate all year round.

Despite the fact that we are a professional association, students from other countries are also welcome to join. The main thing is to show interest!
Useful knowledge and valuable memories of the time of the university. Feel free to join!

Estonian Society of Forest Students

The Estonian Forest Students’ Association (EMEÜS) was founded in 1989. The aim is to bring together active students in forestry and wood processing technology.

EMEÜS is also an intermediary between students studying forestry and the practical forestry sector. In addition to useful professional acquaintances and contacts (the members of the society may turn out to be business partners, employers, colleagues, etc.) in the future, the society mediates work, internships and study information to its members.

In the life of the society, general broadening of horizons and entertainment is also important. They also work closely with the private and public sectors of forestry and are active at the international level, being a member of the International Organization of Forestry Students (IFSA), which in turn opens up the opportunity to participate in various international conferences and gatherings of forestry students. In addition, the Finnish Joensuu Forest Students’ Society meets every year.

We organize hikes, workshops, social and film evenings together, we also participate in various trainings, information days and cooperate with other societies. You can become a member of us throughout the academic year, those interested can contact us at any time or wait until the night of acquaintance.

EMÜ Society of Students of Economics

History

The EMÜ Society of Economics Students got its start one November evening while researching the spring marketing activities of the EMÜ MSI with freshmen.

The question arose as to why there is no practical outlet if what is studied at the institute is of a wide spectrum and would certainly find practical application. The first ideas were thrown into the air. The first gatherings began, where they discussed how to motivate students to participate in the activities of the Society, and the first activities and areas of responsibility were established. The date of birth of the Society can be considered to be February 6, 2018, when real work began for the first time.

WHY?

Internships are very important in economics education, and it would be a good idea to implement what is being studied in auditoriums immediately.

TO WHOM?

For economics students interested in internships.

WHAT DO WE DO?

We are currently developing the society, analyzing social media channels and giving it content. We also plan to expand our activities into business. With the Society of Economics Students, we have participated in the study of food prices in cooperation with Latvia and Lithuania and have had the opportunity to be part of the organizing team of conferences organized in the EMÜ. Our institute is interested in continuing to involve students in research.

How To Join?

Come and study at the EMÜ Institute of Economics and Social Sciences.

Information about our Society can be obtained from tutors!
